*Lavender | A Four Sisters Inn:  2020 Webber Ave., Yountville.  800-522-4140  www.lavendernapa.com

Lavender is one of the oldest homes in the Napa Valley, starting as in the 1850s as a country farmhouse on Capt. John Grigsby’s ranch. The house was moved to the present location in the 1860s. After careful renovation, the inn became part of the Four Sisters Inns collection in 1999. Four Sisters Inns President Shelley Post worked extensively with the architect and designer to create a feeling of space in each cottage, giving seven of the nine rooms peaked ceilings and private outdoor courtyards. The property features a lavender garden, and the vibrant interior paint colors and fabrics of Provence.

Each guestroom features a queen or king bed, and many feature a fireplace, patio or jetted spa tub.
