After careful renovation, the inn became part of the Four Sisters Inns collection in 1999. Four Sisters Inns President Shelley Post worked extensively with the architect and designer to create a feeling of space in each cottage, giving seven of the nine rooms peaked ceilings and private outdoor courtyards. The property features a lavender garden, and the vibrant interior paint colors and fabrics of Provence.

*Healdsburg Inn | A Four Sisters Inn  112 Matheson St., Healdsburg.  800-431-8663  www.healdsburginn.com

The town of Healdsburg was laid out in 1857. By 1900, new structures ringed the Plaza, including one known as the Kruse Building, which housed Wells Fargo & Company’s offices and express coach stop. Some 82 years after it was built, the edifice was turned it into a bed-and-breakfast inn. The building underwent a major renovation in 2004, and though it now offers the comforts of a modern structure, many original features remain, including exposed interior brick walls and the beautiful, original staircase. Soon after the renovation was completed in 2005, Four Sisters Inns began operating the Inn.
